NYU Langone Health Ambulatory Hospital

Professional Work at Ennead Architects
NYULH Brooklyn plans to relocate outpatient services from the main hospital building to create space for the expansion of the ED and other inpatient programs. The building locates on 5423 First avenue, Brooklyn. It is a 20,034 sf site at the intersection of First Avenue and 55th Street in the sunset Park. The building will be accommodating a number of outpatient programs including ambulatory surgery, endoscopy and clinics. This project should serve to establish high standards in quality healthcare design, both aesthetically and technically. The building massing is derived in part of zoning regulations but also as a desire to refl ect its mixed programs and functions. Floating above the recessed ground fl oor, a base volume houses the Ambulatory Surgery Center. A middle volume of three fl oors contains the Family Health Clinic program and Faculty Group Practice. All of the mechanical equipment and bulkheads are expressed as a third volume crowning the building. Each volume is associated with an aspect of the project and its context, linking back to the notions of a vibrant City, a productive Waterfront, and a Beacon in the sky.
